Internet Explorer 7.0 Released
Microsoft released their latest version of Internet Explorer on October 19, 2006. IE Version 7.0 provides many new usability features and improved security features for the end users. Because of the myriad of security enhancements incorporated into the product, Microsoft plans to designate IE 7.0 as a "high priority" update. As a result, we expect the migration rate to the new version to be much greater than in previous releases of Internet Explorer. Microsoft has notified corporate customers to have blocking measures in place by November 1, 2006 if they should not want IE to be installed automatically. Therefore we expect the new IE 7.0 version to be pushed out from Microsoft to customers shortly after that date.
As with any new browser there are differences in the rendering engine - the engine that converts the code into the page as it is displayed on the user's screen. The new rendering engine may result in current web pages looking or responding differently. Your corporate web site may be affected.
If you manage your corporate web site, you need to verify that your site is going to work correctly with the new version of IE. There are some known issues which Microsoft will be working to fix. However, some web sites may need to be updated in order to display properly in the new IE version 7.
