Maintaining Your Site Using FTP
1. You can connect to your web site and send and receive files between your PC and the server using File Transfer Protocol (FTP). FTP tools are available to make this process easier. We use CuteFTP, and that will be displayed here. There are many FTP products available, and most are relatively inexpensive or free, and can be downloaded from Download.com. Some popular products include WS_FTP, CuteFTP and SmartFTP.

4. Once you have successfully connected, you will be able to transfer files to and from the server. CuteFTP has two windows that enable you to navigate on your local PC and the FTP site. The window on the left is your local PC. Navigate to the directory where your web site files will be stored. The window on the right is the FTP site. You can drag and drop files between these two windows to transfer them. Figure 3.

5. Once you have completed these steps you can view your page by typing in the URL of your web site within a browser, for example http://www.YourWebSite.com. Make sure to refresh your screen (F5 in IE) after you've uploaded your changes.
